Lowestoft (Logging Mill) Sewage Works and Ness Point 28:11:2010
I suppose that this is slightly disrespecfull of me but there you go, someone is bound to inform me that this is state of the art. Speak for yourself I say. So the best sighting today is being going headlong down the slope in the snow after going down a mole hole. So my boy laughed, but that gives you no right to. but then if you had seen so little you would have laughed as well. Birding was minimal but with veiws of 7 JAY and a single REDWING it was acold old morning. When at the NESS things inproved with a flock of 35 LAPWING off shore and a sigle ROBIN flying in of the sea only to land at our feet. 1 MED GULL put in his usual appearance. Best of all was a small flock of our regular PURPLE SANDS four in all that where close up at the Ness. Some of the BLACK-HEADED-GULLS are alraedy gaining black around the head. To finish off there was just 1 ROCK PIPITE give a showing.

Strong South Easterly wind with light rain. Rather cold to say the least, sitting in my little sheltered spot. Walberswick, Lodge Road.
Drive and short walk brought a rather long list so here we go. Good fly over of a COMMON BUZZARD.Flying into strong west wind. Other bird of note was a pair of COMMON REDPOLE at only 15 feet from the car window. In real terms however it was good to see a flock in and out of the old pig area of CHAFFINCH (30+) birds. In this group also PIED WAG (6) and a single MEADOW PIPIT. CURLEW (4) LAPWING (70) SHELLDUCK (4) MALLARD (7) GREAT-S-WOOD (1) KESTREL (5) GOLDCREST (7) REDWING (1) BLACKBIRD (14) GREAT TIT AND BLUE TIT lost count.

I didn't bother to count, so take it from me there was 301 Geese along Acle Strait at midday, with Lapwing and Golden Plover feeding well in meadows to the North. Also Gannets counted 8 flying far out at Ness Point. Best however was 12 Eider flying North. 6 drake birds showing well as they lined up close to the water. The only issue here was the front leading bird was more like a female mallard. To far out to tell?
