Home

Rather busy rebuilding conservatory so birding on back seat. The only bird was a SPARROW HAWK that flew North at 15:00hrs.

Back of SLP, Lowestoft.

Weather from the south with wind and rain, hence the place of viewing. Not much to run on about though so here we go. 1 CORMORANT, 1 COMMON TERN, 1 TURNSTONE, 2 PIED WAGTAIL, 1 KITTYWAKE flying South and that's it.
Last evening at Model Village Great Yarmouth, I picked up on 12 SWIFT that flew through low just before dusk. I also had a KESTREL at Wicks and all the STARLINGS from Lowestoft this afternoon, about 100 birds in all.

Update:  BLACK HEADED GULL seen last Sunday has been seen by me before, but this was the first time this year on it's return from Norway. The HERRING GULL I found on South Pier last Monday week, had only a metal ring but managed to gain Id and it is a Landguard bird group, but the bird was rung as a chick in July 1999 at Orford. I recorded it 5,875 days after the last sighting and it's ringing.

North Dene's

With a good fall of birds from Flambrough Head to North Norfolk an early out was required. The day was still with reasonable light but with only small fall of birds demonstrating a limited migration.
Altogether I had the following with 3 PIED FLY the best one in the garden which was not the best but good enough. 5 BLACKCAP all female and one in the garden. 3 WHINCHAT 2 WHEATEAR one(Northern) 4 MEADOW PIPIT, 7 GREENFINCH, 2 JAY, 2 COMMON WHITETHROAT, 1 LESSER WHITETHROAT. ROBIN, WREN, 9  PIED WAGTAIL, 2 OYSTERCATCHER.

Home

The first for over two weeks was the fly over of five SWIFT. These birds all flying south where running in front of a front which has brought several birds in North of us.

Hazelwood Marshes

This RSPB reserve has changed since the flooding of the low land after the sea surge of 2013. It was the  first time for me to visit now that it has been set up. I was part of a group from Waveney Bird Club on a field trip.
The best bird was a close fly by of a HOBBY which was and always will be joy. But I suppose the real birding was the fact that over a thousand BLACK TAILED GODWIT can never be over emphasised. Also of note SPOONBILL, GREY PLOVER, WILLOW WARBLERS at least 8 birds. PIED WAG, 200 CURLEW, 9 GREY HERON, 28 LITTLE EGERET the most I have ever seen as a group.

I think that this walk through from Sailors Path to Snape is the best Suffolk walk ever. With a single pale Grayling and also a pic of one of the Lowestoft Peri's

Ness Point and Lowestoft sea front.

Now for the cheating....as I and Mary spent a few hours a few weeks ago at Pensthorpe.. So obviously there is some cheating here but not as much as you could do. But I cannot but share some of the pictures.
Ness Point:  I had two young ARCTIC TERN which came closer than some, but also adult SANDWICH TERN.
South Beach:  Plenty of gulls and Kitties still with a metal rung bird to be identified later but obviously a British bird.
Arctic tern

They start um young on Champagne in Lowestoft, if you are lucky or Stella.

Computer issues?

The age of the computer is fraught with difficulties. But be of good cheer they are being resolved. New lappy has been acquired.
