Ness Point, Lowestoft.

Spent an hour at high water around mid-day. Southerly wind and inter cloud. Best bird was a KITTIWAKE flying south, rather odd to say the least. RAZORBILL and GUILLEMOT, with most birds flying north. One ARCTIC SKUA hunting gulls south. Most GANNETS where of the same persuasion, but where in all types of plumage, ranging from full adult to totally immature.A fl;lock of eight EIDER flying north and nine SHAG heading south. Most birds where CORMORANT in this area but the occasional single shag flying was not unusual. There was a large movement of RED-THROATED-DIVER  interspersed with the occasional GREAT-  CRESTED -GREBE. Seems rather odd as these birds are more than likely to be feeding offshore with the Broads frozen. 20 TURNSTONE about finds the end except that I gained the confidence of my local Robin today and he came to within 6 inches of my hand for a meal worm.

I locked on to three HARBOR PORPOISE well off shore and also an adult HERRING GULL- Right leg- WHITE- Black lettering- A7YY (Young bird in tow)

Fritton Woods

Walk round produced several COAL TIT in amongst the usual Tit flock. With WREN and ROBIN for sound. The calling of GOLDCREST from the tops of the firs is enough to make you stand on your head after a while. The best bird however was  a SHORT-EARED-OWL which flew on South side and over to Haddiscoe Island. Flew just 200 yards away, but photo's in setting sun not good. Also put up one WOODCOCK and a MARSH HARRIER quartered low over reeds just as sun was going down.

Lowestoft High Street

Followed up on twitter info and dragged in the Hume's Leaf Warbler which was behind Crop Shop, opposite Tescos. Always said it was a good idea to live in the town. Watched bird off and on for 15 minuets with reasonable views but only fleeting footage, but at least I managed to record the call.

Ness Point, Lowestoft.

BRENT GEESE still on the move south with two parties, the largest was a flock of 21 birds. A single immature GANNET flying north. COMMON SCOOTER seven flying north. COMMON GUILLEMOT on the sea diving close inshore and heading north. BONXIE far out at sea again heading north, as where a party pf five GREY-LAG-GEESE. I also had a close visit with a short staying ROCK PIPIT. Three PURPLE SANDS put in a brief appearance and headed south to roost, I expect in Hamilton Dock.
