Pathways Care Farm

Usual Monday walk out round the farm. Good to see the pair of MUTE SWANS back for the winter. They did call in the spring but decided against a breed. There are now nine LITTLE GREBE with three young birds. Kingfisher flew in and out and three SWALLOWS done the same. But the best was in the far corner seat, as I sat down on the bench I heard the call of a YELLOW BROWED WARBLER. Flitting about above my head. But as always no chance of a pic which I tried so hard to get, but with no joy.

Today at Links Hill: First flocks of Dark Bellied BRENT GEESE. in flock of three to twelve. A single MED GULL and a flock of five MALLARD flying South.

Links Hill.

Both yesterday and Sunday birding proved to be of interest with a SOOTY SHEARWATER on both occasions. Today however proved to be another good day with three distance ARCTIC SKUA. But yesterday I followed a very small dark bird low over the water. ID was impossible but I suppose that's the way it is. I also picked up on a GUILLIMOT floating North on the tide.

Ness Point

Spent a few hours looking out to sea. With little to get a hold on but this will give you the flavour of what can be seen, Today a very immature GANNET with three TEAL flying South. Also a flock of 27 TURNSTONE flew into the rocks, but once there they soon separated and moved around. I also had three COMMON TERN and a few CORMORANT about. The most concern was a flock of what I called DUNLIN. However after some thought one bird was calling sounding similar to a COMMON SANDPIPER, but not. So with some thought it sounded more like a WOOD SANDPIPER and I jump for that.
