Strupshaw Fen, Norfolk.

Bright to start but light rain by 2pm. First day out for a long while, but then life is for living and on you go. Being zapped by the Radiotherapy set up at N&N.
Some of the birds were lovely to see with perhaps the most iconic three flocks of very noisy PINK FOOT GEESE. I asses altogether 160 birds. BEARDED TIT two close by and a two over reverbed and yet another the same. CETTI'S WARBLER came in at 2. Also a small flock of estimated 10 birds. MARSH TIT, GOLDCREST, COAL TIT, REDWING 2 and only one FIELDFARE. As for the birds of prey a young MARSH HARRIER and at least 2 COMMON BUZZARD. GREY HERON, and a very noisy WATER RAIL. GADWALL, MALLARD, TEAL 10, COOTE 23, MOORHEN 2,
The most interesting thing was that it was so warm that I saw at least 12 COMMON DARTER with two doing what comes naturally. Rather late in the day, but never to late I suppose.

Corton Old Sewage Works

Overcast with light breeze from the West.

It is always good to see flocks of birds, not so many nowadays, but to see a flock of over 30 GOLDFINCH and a flock of 14 GREENFINCH is always good to report. The best bird however was  a single GREENH WOODPECKER which was feeding on the ground. Plenty of BLACKBIRDS again about 30+ birds and REDWING 5. I also had a FIELDFARE in the garden first thing this morning.

South Pier, Lowestoft.

Overcast but still weather wise, which did brighten later.

The TURNSTONES were flitting about along the wall of the pier and also on the deck but a noisy pair of PIED WAGTAIL were fly catching high in the air and were not very happy that a ROCK PIPIT was getting in on the action. Only two CORMORANTS over the water with a few on the groynes along the foreshore. I had a very tired BLACKBIRD fly in which was suffering terribly, it was totally disorientated and struggled to keep aloft at 6 feet. But made it to sit under the picnic seats at the Fisherman Warf. As for gulls what can you say only that Harry came in with Kevin this morning fed and of they went.
