North Wales Waveney Bird Club Trip.
Five nights in Llandudno and round about brought in some good birds for the year.
Great Orme: Wednesday evening.
Good to catch up with DOTTRAL three birds with STONECHAT, CHOUGH, RAVEN, DUNNOCK, MEADOW PIPIT with a flock of 30+ ROOK,JACKDAW,CROW, WHEATEAR, CHIFFCHAFF.
RSPB Conway:
Best bird here was a single WOOD SANDPIPER, With WILLOW WARBLER, SWALLOW, SAND MARTIN. LESSER WHITETHROAT. WHITETHROAT,
Llangollen Hights Thuresday early.
This visit to the moors was the main reason for the few days away. I have always wanted to see a leck of BLACK GROUSE and it did not disappoint. With 16 and a female at one area and 8 in the other.
RSPB Burton Mere:
1 CATTLE EGERET, and the best SPOONBILL you will ever see. It was an amazing male RUFF with female REEVE, GREENSHANK, and a pair of SPOTTED REDSHANK, Also a flock of 50+ BLACK TAILED GODWIT, In far distance a confusing view of GREAT WHITE EGERET. REED WARBLER, SEDGE WARBLER.
Little Neston.
View over the Dee lowlands brought HEN HARRIER ringtail bird and another GWE.

Parkgate:
Again 3 GWE making our count along this stretch 6 birds. Also pulled in a single SNIPE. A small flock of BTG and then cod and chips.
Prestatyn Gutter:
As we walked in a reeling GRASSHOPPER WARBLER which one of three, also BLACKCAP, WILLOW WARB, CHIFFCHAFF,. But what was unusual was a PERGRINE resting on beach. REED BUNTING and SEDGE WARB. Also on beach was a single WHIMBREL.
Pensychnant Nature Conservation centre.
This is an amazing place and with CUCKOO and PIED FLYCATCHER it was true to form.
RAF Valley: Friday.
This was the first place we visited with POCHARD, G-C-GREBE, SEDGE WARB, REED BUNT, C-WHITETHROAT, KESTREL G-L-GEESE, CANADA GEESE, TUFTED DUCK. SAND MARTIN and HOUSE.
Holyhead Inner Harbour:
Reason of this visit was to catch up with BLACK GUILLEMOT 6, RAVEN 1, SHAG 3.
South Stack:
There was only one PUFFIN, FULMER, GUILLEMOT 3000, RAZORBILL. SWALLOW, SANDMARTIN.
Cemlyn Bay:
Movement of MANX SHEARWATER 100+, GANNET all heading East to West. Two WHIMBRAL flew in and four RED-BREASTED-MER, But the real purpose was to see the SAMWICH TERNS.
Bywyd Gwylit Glaslyn: Saturday.
Rough weather with Storm Hanah coming in meant that OSPREY was well huncurd down. So a head is a head, HOUSE MARTIN,CHIFF, BLACKCAP, HOUSE SPARROW.

Rain, rain and more rain. DIPPER, COMMON SAND, PIED FLY a pair and another female. BLACKCAP,
LLlanwrist: Sunday.
By the fancy bridge and church yard. SWALLOW 3, COMMON SAND, GOLDCREST, BLACKCAP, COMMON BUZZARD 2.

Oulton Marsh.
Bright day but what is wrong with that East wind.
Still adding to the year list, but with two weeks in the Midlands today gave me the first Suffolk SWALLOW. Several WILLOW WARBLERS, BLACKCAP, CHIFFCHAFF, CETTI'S WARBLER. and my first year list SEDGE WARB.
But the best was the sighting of three female ORANGE TIP BUTTERFLIES

Oulton Marsh.
Bright but cold air for the 1st April. The species list was slightly higher, but no real movement as such .
A very good coloured male MARSH HARRIER was quartering section of marsh. REED BUNTING all male birds seen. Also 3 OYSTERCATCHER , 3 REDSHANK , 4 LAPWING , 3 GADWALL, WIGEON 10, CHIFFCHAFF 7.

Leath's Ham.
Sat for sometime in the garden this morning and heard a BLACK REDSTART. Also a fly over KESTREL accompanied by 7 LINNET and GREENFICH. Both PEREGRINE about the silo.
As a SIBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF had been in residence for a few days so a call was due. Watched for 10 minutes until lost to view. It did sing but very plaintive.

Sotterly Estate and Wrentham.
Reason to call in at Sotterly timber yard today, so while there I heard a NUTHATCH calling from across the road. Took a while to locate but even when I did my viewing time was short. But was able to make it my 100 on my species list for the year.
COMMON BUZZARD had 8 separate birds also 1 MARSH TIT and a single GREAT SPOTTED WOODPECKER.
Wrentham: On the way through a RED KITE flew close in but could not relocate. A single JAY and COMMON BUZZARD.
