SWT Carlton Marsh

The regular visit for a Wednesday afternoon. Walked out to the new hide on the North bund. Very smart hide being new. It was rather drafty with an East wind as the eaves are wide open. As I was approaching a bird flew  at 80ft from Oulton Marsh and landed in the reeds but I was not quick enough to get a shot of the BITTERN. at least four MARSH HARRIER with two male one female and a very dark young bird. With two COMMON BUZZARD and two KESTREL. A flock of 10 REDWING at the bend of the river. Four MEADOW PIPIT and three flocks of GOLDFINCH feeding on the thistles. About 60 birds in all. In the far distance over Borough St Peters several flock of PINK FOOTED GEESE about 300 birds in all.
