Carlton Marsh

Still under reconstruction as a reserve with limited access, but the time will come when all will be able to enjoy a really wonderful reserve. The development however still does not hinder birding for the area. My best bird was 50 ft fly through HEN HARRIER, ringtail which came of Whitecast Marsh and flew in front of me and by the time I had gained a gap amongst the scrub it was well off and still going. Mobbed all the way it headed over Spratt's Water and was gone. Best picture is below, but needs much to be desired.

I also had four MARSH HARRIER and five GREY HERON. MEADOW PIPIT 5, LAPWING 30, MALLARD 8 and one LITTLE EGRET.
