Oulton Broad

Walk through Nicholas Everit Park produced the GOOSANDER and photo shoot as well. Also found the WOODUCK which is around most winters for the past few years, no female however. Also picked up a BLACK-HEADED-GULL with white coloured ring, sent in as usual and see what this produces. It was also good to see the local KINGFISHER, but he was nowhere near so obliging. He did fly within 10feet of me, but no chance with the camera. Think he is rather shy. GOLDFINCH hanging around pets corner picking up the loose food about.

Leathes Ham, Lowestoft.

Picked up on the local ICELAND GULL again today, managed a few pict's and video. Bird was obliging for about 30 minuets, but still kept itself at a distance. Caught up with a good  LBJ, but could not clinch it. Any brown CHIFFCHAFF worries me and despite hanging around in the cold for ages, to many people walking along footpath. Plenty of PINTAIL setting themselves up for breeding. With SHOVELER and GADWALL. Heard a WATER RAIL but no visual. The only other bird of interest was a lone COMMON REDPOLL

Hamilton Dock, Lowestoft.

Just a walk up the the town for me and a view of the recent adult ICELAND GULL. It was rather to interested in feeding on fish than to be able to take a descent photo while standing around which gull seem to do. Still a very nice bird as it is a full adult. Also a CHIFFCHAFF manged a fly by at the top off the multistory car park. That's another first. Also found an adult MED GULL well over other side of dock flying north. Other interest was in a GREAT BLACK BACKED GULL which is colour rings from Norway and evidently a local in the winter for the past few years. The local flock of starling was around guesstimate of 6.000 tonight the biggest for a while.

Bradwell, Norfolk.

Took a look for the RUDDY SHELDUCK adjacent to A134 . Bird was showing well with his friendly group of EGYPTIAN GEESE. On way home picked up a pair of COMMON BUZZARD at Somerlyton alongside Farm Lane. The pair where over flying each other with talons drawn. Bit early for this activity. News back on the CORMORANT is interesting as it has not been seen for three years. Rung in the Netherlands.

Castle Marsh, North Cove

Jonathan and I took a walk round on a day that started very bright and amazingly warm again for this time of the year. Started off before we left home with a CHIFFCHAFF in the garden again with usual call. Best bird was a COMMON BUZZARD that gave us views but only along way off over the other side of the Waveny. This bird then flew later on closer but only for a few second before coming down over North Cove. Other sighting where: REDWING, FIELDFARE,COAL TIT, L-T-TIT,B-TIT,G-TIT, KESTREL, MEADOW PIPIT (8) GOLDFINCH several flocks the most common of the small stuff. CHAFFINCH, GREEN WOODPECKER AND G-S-WOODPECKER.

While feeding Brian my Robin in the garden, who has me conditioned to feeding him meal worms at 9am each morning. I heard the call of a CHIFFCHAFF. How late do they run as this was just a bog standard bird as afar as I could see, except that it was really brightly coloured for a bird so late in the year. No wing panels and a the hueet of the call repeated was symbiotic of the species.

Fisher Row,Oultion Broad

First birding for three weeks, took the chance weather good and I feel good. Best of day was 10 BLACK-TAILED-GODWIT on new created marsh with 8 REDSHANK 40 WIGEON 12 MALLARD,15 TEAL, 1 GREYLAG, 200 BARNACLE GEESE over Burgh St Peter. 1 KESTREL,GREAT TIT, BLUE TIT, LONG-TAILED-TIT and 4 TREE CREEPER, 1 PIED WAG, 1 MEADOW PIPIT. ROOK, CROW and JACKDAW. WOOD PIGEON. 3 GREY HERON, MUTE SWAN. 1 REED BUNTING. 2 MOORHEN. Large flock over small passerine unidentified on far side of Waveny. Assumed to be FINCHES. BLACKBIRD, FIELDFARE AND REDWING along railway track. GOLDFINCH and GREENFINCH. Also had good view of CHINESE WATER DEER and took a few photo's to confirm.
