Oulton Broad.

 Walk through from Knights Creek to Whitecast Marsh with the sighting of 5 CHIFFCHAFF. With some singing birds but the one in the pic was a silent bird. The most bird of interest was a gull, not identifiable to me but more than odd to say the least. The black primaries sets as more than odd. CETTI'S WARBLER 2, 5 GREENFINCH obviously working out a good nest site. My first BRIMSTONE BUTTERFLY of the year was well on the move. Also a PEACOCK which was more obliging. Also a picture here of a LESSER CELADINE.

Carlton Marsh

 Walk through on the main track and return. With a bright day at last who can resist a walk on the wild side.

A pair of AVOCET on the old scrape and a single CHIFFCHAFF behind on corner. REED BUNTING came in at four males. Two GWE on Petoe's Marsh. Ywo male MARSH HARRIER trying each other in ariel combat. BUZZARD 4 and 32 species in all.

All about.

 Things are  so different, but we still hang on. Birding is never easy this time of the year but with all the restrictions it still happens. Birding with a struggle is what it aught to be called. But at least we are still running.

Sat and watched 300+ CORMORANT feeding in the surf on the North Holm. Links Hill is still a good viewing point. RED THROATED DIVER came in at 3 with 27 GANNET feeding amongst the cormorant. Only one MED GULL an immature bird that I have seen before.

South Pier

 Walk through to South Pier brought in very little but did get to see my second KITTYWAKE fly through. Also a ROCK PIPIT popped up briefly. Then went on the beach. I had just one PURPLE SANDPIPER and 6 TURNSTONE. A few CORMORANT on groynes and fly by.

Oulton Marsh

 Not the longest walk in the world, but just good to be about. Dull and overcast meant that visibility was restrictive. Best was two REED BUNTING with both singing. Also many CHAFFINCH and a single GREEN WOODPECKER. just one KESTREL.

  

Recent Birding

 Links Hill: Still little about except for one COMMON GULL and four MED GULLS. The best was an immature bird which showed good characteristics of the  younger bird. This bird was somewhat of a flighty bird. But after care it shew well.

Blunderston Lanes:  Circular walk was not really a winter climax except for two WOODCOCK one which flew high and another which I put to flight. One YELLOWHAMMER and several LINNET, CHAFFINCH and GOLDFINCH. Also a single COMMON BUZZARD.

Colville Works: This little pool of run off water is worth a look whenever there is a need to call in. A single GREY WAGTAIL, was flitting through surface weed. With it a single MOORHEN, song thrush, blackbird, starling, great tit, collard dove.

  

Fem Park and Ness Point.

 Spent an hour around the Fen with the boy. The best if course was a single GREY WAGTAIL but also pulled in SONG THRUSH, LTT, BLUE TIT, GREAT, MOORHEN 7.

Ness Point: Todays view had three GOOSANDER heading North but well out. Also 14 CORMORANT but on show was a really good ROCK PIPIT. Very heavily streaked. Also 4 PURPLE SANDPIPER. Well off 4 RED THROATED DIVER.
