Home:   Went into the garden at the start of the day to dump rubbish in the bin. As soon as I went through the back door I heard a YELLOW BROWED WARBLER calling in the tree at the bottom of the garden. Dropped the rubbish grabbed the bins, but could not pin it down. It kept on calling until it flew off south after 20 minuets. Saw it go and no more calling so that was that one in the garden bag.
Also had PERI over and a GREY WAGTAIL.

Ness Point, Lowestoft.

Clear sea watch with moving cloud and West wind.

 

Ness Point:   GANNETS offshore  with a count of a 156 all heading North. Good numbers of young ones and inter plumage birds as well as adults. I also had 18 COMMON SCOTER through heading the same way in two flocks as well as 24 RED THROATED DIVER all over the show with one bird close on in. I could here a pipit assumed rock but could not pin it so not good. Also HARBOUR PORPOISE again today and two seals.

Linear Cycle Track, Lowestoft.

Inter weather with light wind from North West.

Linear Cycle Track: Walk right the way along to A12 brought not a hint of a warbler. But it did give some interest in a JAY which was intent on having a bath and a good splash. But also a GREY WAGTAIL which was at home in the stream behind six form college. he best about this walk was the 36 HOUSE SPARROWS. There was also a large flock of over 20 GOLDFINCH resting up with some asleep.

 

Ness Point, Gorleston and Lound Lakes.

Overnight a strong North West blew through a brought very little. Bright and inter cloud.

Ness Point: GANNET 14 birds all well out and 7 RED THROATED DIVER with 16 TURNSTONE keeping me company and hiding away from wind.

Leathes Ham: The best here was a KINGFISHER and 3 LITTLE GREBE, WITH 23 SHOVELER, TUFTED DUCK 6,WIGEON 10 and to finish of 12 COOT.

Gorleston:   COMMON GULL 1 which sat on beach as did a single MED GULL with red ring which has been sent to BTO. I also had a a SPARROWHAWK fly through chasing a small flock of STARLING.

Ness Point, Lowestoft.

Overcast with a strong West wind which gave long shots of birds and many went past undetected. Especially waders, which were all to far away to give id. Also birds well off the horizon were simply caught in haze and most assumed to be cormorant.

Ness Point:  Best bird was a close in running female RED BREASTED MERGANZER. Which I would have missed had it not been for Phil Jackson as we talked. Also three GREAT NORTHERN DIVER flying South as well as 7 RED THROATED DIVER all North. 2 BRENT GEESE heading the wrong way and a pair of BLACK TAILED GODWIT. Other than that 13 GANNET and 2 PIED WAGTAIL as well as 11 TURNSTONE.

Warren House Wood and Gunton Cliff.

Very strong wind from the West with a bright sky worsening.

Warren House Wood was rather quite in fact to much so with only 2 ROBIN and 2 GOLDCREST.

Gunton Cliff: Again little about except for a single CHIFFCHAFF and a KESTREL who was annoying a CARRION CROW. I did have a pair of JAY put in an appearance and very noisy to.

Links Hill: Held no surprises either except for a lone MED GULL which was keeping a BLACK HEADED GULL company.

What a waste of time that was?

Saw a Road Runner today in fact so many I gave up counting and sought sanctuary away from them all. Strong South wind and little at sea, so as resort  spent sometime with our friend in Hamilton Dock, pictures not the best as little light and windy.
