Horsey Levels, Norfolk.

Drive round the area brought in a single GREAT WHITE FRONTED GOOSE. obviously of Eastern origin but very large and long necked. We also had a MERLIN on Acle Strait as were three COMMON BUZZARD wire sitting. But best was a female SPARROW HAWK which landed in a bush in front of us. Then flew off just feet away. Also GOLDEN PLOVER, GREY LAG GEESE, PINK FOOTED GEESE. LAPWING,

Oulton Marsh

Walk round through the mud, no joke. Birding wise much to be desired with little excitement except for a WATER PIPIT that was calling well and flew over my head before settling down in long grass. This is the third one for this year and I have defiantly locked on to its call. Very few duck with only two TEAL as all of them are over the river. Who can blame them. Several 100 LAPWING flew off Peto's Marsh and BLACK TAILED GODWIT.

Carlton Marsh

Carlton Marsh: A walk through just to the end of the track and view over Peto's Marsh.
Best bird was an obliging WATER PIPIT which came up and shew itself well. I think it was one of two as another could be heard calling. This one also done the same and had all tell tail signature defined id.  A flock of MEADOW PIPIT 23 birds in all. Also a female MARSH HARRIER being harried by crows. Also KESTREL and COMMON BUZZARD. Also the usual birds with many WIGEON.
Abberton Resevoir: A short call in as only visiting family, best bird was the sighting of two redhead SMEW. One was rather close but no camera on my shoulder and by the time I got it, it flew. Also a pair of EGYPTIAN GEESE and the usual sighting of many ducks. I also managed two GOLDENEYE.

Thanks to Hawk who serviced my scope in just a few hours. Service is absolutely fantastic and with the use that the scope has had there improvements have made it as new, and all for nought from the pocket. Taken in on Thursday last ready by that evening and picked up today it is now at home.
