Waveney Forest.

Just a slight covering of snow and the world seemingly comes to an end. But winter is good even if the birding is cold. Mind you kept really warm and its great to have warm feet on a cold day. Several COAL TIT calling and viewable and three MARSH TIT. ROBIN 5, WREN 4, GOLDCREST 3, BLACKBIRD 6, Viewing from the mound was an improvement on the other day in regards to visibility. But variety of raptors was limited. Altogether 3 COMMON BUZZARD, and one ROUGH LEGGED BUZZARD. One of c-buzzards was really pale and has been passed of as RLB but there was one closer in and through the scope it fitted a match for RLB. I also saw 7 PINK FOOTED GEESE,  and a single GREY HERON.
On return had a GREAT SPOTTED WOODPECKER, and 2 JAY. On arrival back at the car a REED BUNTING popped up.

But did manage three SHORT EARED OWL, KESTREL 3, MARSH HARRIER one adult male. But a good sighting was a single TREECREEPER which was encircling pines. COAL TIT 3, LONG TAILED TIT, MARSH TIT.
Track camera was interesting at Pathways as it logged a fox every night for four nights also COAL TIT, MEADOW PIPIT 5, SONG THRUSH 3, BLACKBIRD 5,

Waveney Forest and Green Lane.

Not the best day as the old boy forgot his tripod and that is what you call getting old. No excuse. First call was Green Lane, Lound which produced well with 7 YELLOWHAMMER and a few CHAFFINCH as well as 3 BLACKBIRD and a small flock of WOOD PIGEON. From there to Waveney Forest. But with nothing to lean on I stood little chance of gaining any sight of anything. KESTREL was the best with three MARSH TIT and a single COAL TIT. GREY HERON, MUTE SWAN. 5 WREN, 2 ROBIN,

Pathways and Westhall Rd, Lowestoft,

This was no surprise, as these birds had been around for a few days. But a WAXWING is a waxwing and always a joy. So take a look at these pic's of the three birds had taken a liking to berries on a single Rowan.
Pathways: Produced a surprise in that a small flock of 7 MEADOW PIPIT seemed intent on feeding close by. Retrieved the camera track but nothing on it.

Blunderston Lanes, Green Lane, Lound, Links Hill

Just a drive round and catch up on some of our local birds, adding JAY to the year list at Green Lane. Also a perching COMMON BUZZARD and small stuff flitting along hedge row. A flock of finches flew of straw on Green Lane but only id was a CHAFFINCH.
Blunderstone was not a walk but 3 BLACKBIRD and a single SONG THRUSH was a good call.
Links Hill: With three MED GULLS and 9 HERRING GULLS as well as a normal contingent of BHG. Our usual rung med gull was on site.

Gorleston Cliff and Lound lakes.

Bonus was a fly through COMMON GUILLEMOT heading North. A few CORMORANT flying the only other birds of note was 7 MEADOW PIPIT along the cliff.
Lound Lakes: Gave me the opportunity to catch up with GREEN WOODPECKER and COMMON BUZZARD as well as COAL TIT. List now at 53 with little effort.

                                                            Spring is not far away.

Nicolas Everette Park

Well it's that time of the year again. That is it all starts again, in my case I am just lucky to be here. So the year list starts again. With only 2 hours I managed a reasonable 42 species.
I set out for our local guy below who although I have heard, I have not connected visually with. So for the start of a year not bad bad.
