Oulton Broad , Suffolk.

Oulton Broad:  Had the chance to go and look for this bird once again in front of the Wherry Hotel. This was my third visit, so third  time lucky. Bird was close in, but moved of after a short while. Pictures not the best in the world but good enough for me. The bird was regularly diving and faced most of the time towards the right from the Wherry. It was feeding well and twice surfaced with a fish about 4 inches long. So effective as a hunter is a GREAT NORTHEREN DIVER. This bird was well into winter plumage and what we are used to seeing. But this corner of the Broad often throws up something of interest each year.

Leathes Ham:  A few GREAT CORMORANT that is five and GADWALL, MALLARD, COOT, MOORHEN, MUTE SWAN,

The last few weeks.

I have been out of action but now we are getting back to birding. Also back home after treatment in Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. All past the best yet to be and all over before Christmas so not so bad.

I did take a walk around Strumpshaw Fen and also Mousehole Heath, but today was a walk in my usual hang out at North Denes: I suppose there were no real surprises but good to see LINNET at seven birds and a single MED GULL, GREENFINCH, CHAFFINCH, LONG TAILED TIT MEADOW PIPIIT, ROBIN but a massive drop in the numbers of BLACKBIRDS since I last was on site.
